One question, answered since 2004
Who's in, who's out, and when will they be back? Every organization asks it all day long. InOutBoard exists to answer it—instantly, for everyone, from anywhere.
Tens of thousands of organizations served since 2004
200,000+ status changes every week
Our story
InOutBoard started in 2004 with an observation that is still true today: the humble in/out board—the magnetic one by the front desk, with a sliding marker next to every name—solved a real problem, and it stopped working the moment anyone left the building. So we put it on the web, where the receptionist, the field crew, and the branch office could all see the same board at the same time.
Two decades later, that simple idea has grown into a complete platform—status board, dashboard, shared calendars, resource booking, messaging, alerts, and reports—shaped release after release by the customers who use it: small businesses, government agencies, healthcare providers, schools, nonprofits, and utility crews.
What has never changed is what we optimize for. Software that anyone can use on day one, at a price any team can justify, that quietly does its one job every day. Because knowing where your people are isn't just convenient—when weather rolls in or an alarm sounds, it's how you see the status each person last recorded.

Chris Yale
Founder / CTO
Chris built the first version of InOutBoard in 2004 and still leads its development today. Two decades on, the person who answers a technical question is the person who wrote the code. He uses modern tools to keep improving the application your team relies on every day.

Max Yale
Marketing Lead
Max holds a master’s degree (MS) in Marketing from Clemson University and puts it to work bringing a modern approach to helping organizations find InOutBoard and see what it can do for them.
InOutBoard has been in service since 2004 and has served tens of thousands of organizations, most of them in the United States, with teams in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand as well. It runs in Microsoft Azure data centers in the United States, not on anyone’s own computer; we validate our PCI DSS compliance every year; and every report exports to CSV, so your records are always yours to take with you. Our security page has the details.
What we believe
-
Simple beats clever
If a new hire can't update their status in the first minute, we built it wrong. Every feature earns its place by staying out of the way.
-
Built for the long haul
More than twenty years in, we're still here and still improving. We earn trust by being dependable, not by chasing every trend.
-
Your people, your data
Where your team is belongs to you. We protect it and spell out exactly how on our security page— down to the algorithms.
-
Easy to afford
Plans start at $15 a month, every feature included at every size. Good tools shouldn't be an enterprise line item.
-
Safety is the point
Overdue alerts, emergency reports, and one screen holding every person’s last recorded status—because “where is everybody?” matters most on the worst day.
-
Customers steer the roadmap
The features on the status board today were asked for by the people who use it. Tell us what your team needs next.

InOutBoard works great and very easy to use…from a safety standpoint, it's great to know quickly who's in the building and who isn't.
