The dashboard and announcements
What the Home screen shows, how to read the Where is everyone? chart, and how Administrators post company announcements. For the overview, see the Dashboard feature.
What is on the dashboard?
The dashboard is the Home screen, the Home item in the side menu. Signing in opens your own status page first, so you can update it; select Save or Cancel there and the dashboard opens next. Top to bottom, it shows:
- Your status. Your photo, name and job title, your current status, your return time and comment when you have set them, when you last updated, and the Update Status button.
- Announcements. The three most recent company announcements, newest first. When there are more, View all announcements opens the full list.
- Recent Messages. Your unread messages and anything received in the last seven days, up to ten, each with a Mark as read link. Go to messages opens your inbox.
- Upcoming Events. Your events for the next seven days, up to ten, with a Filter for which calendars to include. Go to calendar opens the calendar.
- Status Summary. How many active users are currently in each status type: IN, OUT, and PTO.
- Where is everyone? A chart with one segment per status code, which doubles as a shortcut to the status board.
Select your photo or name to open your profile. On a phone, the same cards stack in one column.
How do I change my status from the dashboard?
- Select Update Status under your name.
- Choose your new status from the Select Work Status list.
- If the status asks for a return time, or you want to give one, use the quick-set list (15 minutes to tomorrow) or enter a date and time.
- Add a comment for the rest of the team if there is something they should know, then select Save.
You are returned to the dashboard with the new status showing. The same steps from the status board are in How do I update my own status?
Which events show under Upcoming Events?
Events in the next seven days from your own My Calendar and from every shared company calendar you have been given access to, up to ten, soonest first. The Filter in the card's header switches between All Calendars, My Calendar, and each company calendar on its own; your choice is remembered the next time you sign in.
Select an event's title to open it. Only events on My Calendar can change your status; Calendars and automatic status updates explains how.
What does the Where is everyone? chart show?
Every active user in your organization with a status, grouped by their current status code: one colored segment per code, with the status badges under the chart as its legend. Someone who has never set a status is not counted, although they still appear on the status board. The Status Summary beside it totals the same people by status type, IN, OUT, and PTO.
Select a segment, or one of the badges, to open the status board filtered to the people currently in that status. It opens in whichever board view you used last: People, List, or Card. Any Location, Department, Team or Name filter you saved on the status board is set aside, so it shows everyone the segment counted; if you then filter, sort or page through that board, the status-only filter becomes your saved filter.
Why don't I see the chart, the events, or the messages?
- You have the Guest role. Guests see their own status, announcements, and the messages sent to them (they cannot send any), but not the Status Summary, the Where is everyone? chart, or Upcoming Events. What can each user role do? lists the roles.
- The feature is switched off for your organization. If an Administrator has turned off Messaging, the Recent Messages card is hidden for everyone; if Calendars are off, Upcoming Events is hidden. Ask an Administrator.
- There is nothing to show. An empty card says so: "There are no company announcements", "You have no recent messages", or "You have no events scheduled for the next 7 days".
How do I post a company announcement?
Only Administrators can post, edit, or delete announcements.
- Select Settings in the side menu, then select Announcements (under People and Places).
- Select Add Announcement.
- Enter a Title (up to 100 characters) and the Announcement text. It is plain text: line breaks are kept, but formatting and clickable links are not.
- Set the Start Date (today by default) and, if the announcement should come down on its own, an End Date.
- Leave Location and Team on --All-- to reach everyone, or choose one of each to narrow it (see the next question).
- Select Save.
To change or remove an announcement later, open it from the same list and select Save or Delete. To find one in a long list, fill in any of Name, Location and Team above it and select Search; under each name the list shows the location and team it is narrowed to, if any.
Who sees an announcement, and for how long?
Everyone it is addressed to sees it on their dashboard from its Start Date through the end of its End Date, or indefinitely if there is no End Date. The dashboard shows the three newest; the full list is under View all announcements. Announcements are not emailed or texted.
An announcement can be addressed to one location, one team, or both. Choosing both narrows it to people who are in that location and on that team. To reach two locations, post the announcement twice. A future Start Date keeps it hidden until that day.
