The InOutBoard web app

The InOutBoard web app is the same InOutBoard you already use in your browser, saved to your computer, phone, or tablet so you can open it with one click or tap. It gets its own icon and opens in its own window, without browser tabs or an address bar, so it looks and feels like an app.

It isn't a separate program. There's nothing to download from the App Store or Google Play and nothing new to learn. Your account, your board, and your settings are exactly the same, and you always have the latest version.

Anyone who checks InOutBoard often. It's optional: InOutBoard works just the same in your browser, and you can install it or not at any time.

It's especially handy for:

• Reception and front-desk staff who keep the status board open all day. It stays in its own window instead of getting lost among browser tabs.
• Managers who want to see who's in with one click.
• Anyone who updates their status from a phone on the way in or out. One tap on the home screen and you're there.

What you get

• Its own icon on your desktop, Start menu, taskbar, Dock, or phone home screen.
• Its own window, with no tabs or address bar, so the status board is easy to find and has more room.
• Always up to date. Nothing to update yourself. It changes when InOutBoard does.

What stays the same

• You sign in the same way. Tick Keep me logged in on the sign-in page if you don't want to sign in each time.
• It needs an internet connection, just like the website.
• Alerts still arrive by email or text message. The web app doesn't send its own pop-up notifications. See Alerts and Messages to set yours up.
• What you can see and do is still set by your organization's Administrator.

• Windows computers, Macs, and Chromebooks using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. These show the Install InOutBoard Web App button on the sign-in page.
• Macs using Safari, through Safari's Add to Dock command.
• Android phones and tablets using Chrome. These also show the Install button.
• iPhones and iPads using Safari, through Add to Home Screen. iPhones and iPads never show the Install button, and that's normal. Use the steps below instead.

Firefox on a computer can't install web apps. Bookmark app.inoutboard.com instead.

On a computer, with Chrome or Edge

1. Go to app.inoutboard.com.
2. On the sign-in page, select Install InOutBoard Web App.
   Don't see the button? Look for the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar, or open the browser's menu and choose the option to install the page as an app. In Chrome that's in the ⋮ menu; in Edge, open the … menu, then More tools → Apps → Install this site as an app.
3. Select Install. InOutBoard opens in its own window and adds its icon to your computer.

On a Mac, with Safari

1. Go to app.inoutboard.com.
2. From the File menu, choose Add to Dock, then select Add.

On an Android phone or tablet

1. Open Chrome and go to app.inoutboard.com.
2. Tap Install InOutBoard Web App on the sign-in page. Or tap the menu (⋮), then Install and create shortcut → Install (older versions of Chrome label it Add to Home screen → Install).
3. The InOutBoard icon, labeled In / Out, appears on your home screen.

On an iPhone or iPad

1. Open Safari and go to app.inoutboard.com.
2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
3. Tap Add to Home Screen. If you see an Open as Web App switch, leave it on.
4. Tap Add. The InOutBoard icon, labeled In / Out, appears on your home screen.

• On a computer (Chrome): open the InOutBoard window, select its menu (⋮) at the top right, and choose the option to uninstall InOutBoard.
• On a computer (Edge): in Edge, type edge://apps in the address bar, select Details on InOutBoard, then select Uninstall and confirm. On Windows you can also remove it like any other app, from Settings → Apps.
• On a Mac (Safari): right-click the InOutBoard icon in the Dock and remove it from the Dock, then delete InOutBoard from your Applications folder.
• On Android: touch and hold the InOutBoard icon (labeled In / Out), then tap Uninstall or Remove.
• On an iPhone or iPad: touch and hold the InOutBoard icon (labeled In / Out), tap Remove App, then confirm.

Removing it only removes the shortcut. Your InOutBoard account, your status, and your data aren't affected, and you can still sign in from your browser at any time.

Yes. The web app is the InOutBoard website in its own window, using the same secure connection. It doesn't install any other software, it doesn't ask for any permissions, and it can't see your files, photos, contacts, or other apps.

Any current, mainstream browser: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, or Firefox on a computer, Safari on an iPhone or iPad, and Chrome on Android. InOutBoard is a standard web application with no plug-ins or extensions; it needs JavaScript and cookies enabled, and an internet connection.

Keep the browser up to date through its normal updates. InOutBoard has no browser check of its own, so an out-of-date browser is more likely to misbehave quietly than to show a warning; updating the browser is the first thing to try. Internet Explorer is not supported.
